Participant Tips

Check out the links below to help you be more effective in gathering sponsors for PONG 2016. Before you jump in:

1. CONNECT YOUR HEART TO THE ISSUES.
Take a couple minutes to learn about the issues of human trafficking and exploitation through the INSPIRATION & RESOURCES sections of this site. The more you connect your heart to participating in this event, the more passionate you’ll be in asking people to sponsor you.

2. DON’T BE SHY.
The donations you raise will change the lives of some of the most exploited young people on the planet.
People support things if you’re passionate and persistent and truly believe in the cause. Our top fundraiser in previous years simply asked every person he met (including his chiropractor and bank manager!) in the weeks leading into the event to sponsor him. And remember, sometimes you need to ask more than once for people to actually respond.

3. FIND A METHOD THAT WORKS FOR YOU.
Some guys are great at the ‘face-to-face’ ask and use sponsor cards (available from your local event organiser) like they’re going out of fashion. Others don’t use the cards at all and get all their sponsors through their fundraising page/social media posts. For some it’s a combination of many approaches. Try some of the ideas below, if one approach doesn’t work, try another until you find one or more ways that suit you!

CASH RECORDS SHEET
Please note: ALL cash donations and donor information must be recorded on the Cash Records Sheet. The Cash Records Sheet is available from your local Event Organiser (on the back of the 2016 Pong Brochure). You must bring this records sheet and all cash donations you’ve received and hand them in to your Event Organiser upon arrival at your playing venue.
